Interstitial condensation

Condensation forming within the construction rather than on its surface.

Frequently caused by insulation upgrades that move the dew point into the fabric, particularly internal insulation applied to a solid wall without a corresponding improvement in ventilation. It is invisible until decay is advanced, which is what makes it serious. Externally applied insulation generally moves the dew point outward and improves matters.
