The most common cause of damp and mould in occupied buildings, and the most commonly misattributed to rising damp. It concentrates on the coldest surfaces: thermal bridges, window reveals, corners between two external walls, behind furniture on external walls, and in unheated rooms. It is a balance between moisture generated inside, ventilation removing it, and how cold the coldest surfaces get.
